A laser beam at 2940 nm wavelength will be delivered through a computer controlled device that automatically scans the area of skin being treated. Physicians can control the ablation and coagulation depth for either light or deep peels. As we age, the effects of sun damage and environmental pollutants take their toll on our skin, causing it to wrinkle, develop sun spots and look tired. A Sciton skin resurfacing procedure can reverse these effects and restore a healthy look to the skin. There are two approaches to resurfacing: full field, and fractional. In full field resurfacing, the entire surface area of the skin is treated. A laser beam is scanned across the treatment area and precisely removes a layer of skin. The body will naturally replace the old, damaged skin that was removed, with a fresh, healthy layer.
Treatments can range from shallow (which might be appropriate for eliminating fine lines, sun spots and tired-looking skin) to deep (which is often used to improve skin tone/texture and eliminate deep wrinkles, even in difficult areas like upper lip lines and crow’s feet). In fractional resurfacing, the laser removes pinpoint columns of skin, leaving the surrounding tissue intact. This approach allows the laser to controllably ablate and coagulate tissue to variable depth, while the surrounding intact tissue promotes rapid healing
Acne is a disorder resulting from the action of hormones and other substances on the skin’s oil glands, sebaceous glands and hair follicles. Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes) are the anaerobic bacterium that causes acne. Severe acne can lead to permanent scarring. BBL’s 420 nm wavelength allow controlled heating of sub-epidermal layers of the skin. With proper treatment, the procedure will lead to collagen remodeling, proliferation of active fibroblasts, and treating over-acting sebaceous glands that result in the reduction of acne and improve acne scarring non-ablatively. For a more dramatic improvement, skin resurfacing using laser resurfacing is highly recommended. The wound-healing process produces fibroblasts that generate new collogen, plumping the skin and correcting skin imperfections.

We are able to treat a broad range of skin conditions caused by skin aging and sun exposure. The light energy delivered by the BBL gently heats the upper layers of the skin. The heat absorbed by the targeted areas coagulates tissue to variable depth. This process helps restore the skin to its natural state. In addition, the photothermal energy targets and eliminates many of the fine vessels that cause redness and the unwanted melanin responsible for pigmented lesions.
Great for treating sun damage, acne, freckles, hyperpigmentation, rosacea, vascular lesions such as veins and cherry angiomas on all areas of the face and body. Recommended treatments depending on skin condition will vary but, generally, it is require a series of 3-5 treatments approximately 4 weeks apart. Avoidance of significant sun exposure, tanning beds, and spray tans must be adhered 2-4 weeks prior to treatment.
