PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma. PRF stand for Platelet Rich Fibrin. As part of the body’s healing ability, platelets and other components in human blood migrate to the point of care. Platelets are well known to release numerous growth factors that respond to tissue injury and initiate and promote the conditions for healing. This is used for many conditions, including anti-aging treatments and hair loss.
Blood will be drawn from your arm to collect and spin down into platelet rich plasma and/or fibrin. The treatment area is numbed and the PRP/PRF is then injected into areas such as the undereyes, smile lines and into acne scars. Recovery is virtually non-existent as it is a non-surgical procedure, with usually, only slight tenderness for a day or two in the areas treated. Bruising and swelling may occur post injections but will heal quickly.
Treatment sessions can vary from patient to patient, depending on treatment areas and goals desired. Generally, there are 3 treatments sessions recommended for an area, approximately 4-6 weeks apart.
